About Evony
Evony once known as Civony is a live-internet centric multi player game with visuals mirroring existing online and offline RTS games e.g Col, Age of Empires, Rome Total War and Settlers.
Some havegone on record to say Evony Free Forever was based on; or identical to Sid Meiers ‘Civilization Game’ – however this is definitely not correct. Most are simply confused by the previous name which was Civony.
Civ was a single player game with few if any similarities to Evony
The turn based game operation of Evony Free Forever has seen much discussion online; and the overall feel for the game splits opinions massively
Kicking Off in Evony
The Basics of the Evony Game.
Each account commences with nothing as a ranking and a lev1 town hall five thousand coins, resources such as things to eat, wood, rock, metals, and fifty in their cities population group
Staying true to strategy gaming roots in the online or offline gaming world, players need to keep growing their population.
This occurs by ensuring additional dwellings are made, then getting resource growth through mines and farming, quarries, and woodmills, players should also attempt to build up their military as quickly as they can
Armies are a crucial component of Evony this prevents being destroyed in attacks, and it also allows players to attack enemies
Core Components of the Game
To help newbies in understanding the key objectives of the game and getting them up to speed quickly – Evony new startups ‘quests’.
The idea is to ensure players don’t get lost in the account interface setup and start to deep dive into every aspect of the RTS
Surprisingly, when a user walks away from his active game – his account will perform designated operations or operations while its not being played directly.
Every new account is guaranteed a grace period of 7 days without being attacked.
As a recent signup to Evony Free Forever, you cannot be battled, destroyed or ravaged in the first daunting few times you take aim.
This gives every new signup a chance to defend themselves eventually and ensures no long time veterans are going after ‘raw meet’ as such to the gaming realm.
Think World of Warcraft, and you can understand that Evony needs a currency system. Evonycoins which come to hand by ‘taxing your town’ or purchased off UMGE will add to your vault stocks and give you a nice edge over competing gamerz.
To grab extra coins, you can sell resources (food, lumber)
This game is free, BUT an optional to pay for extra coins is allowed – how do you think the game designers get profit from their game-release?
Using the likes of PayPal / Credit Cards allows you to buy your way to the top of the game rankings and may improve your game enjoyment. It is not required and always optional
How are players abilities reflected?
Prestige is the reflection of how a player is ranked, its essentially how gamers are scored for this MMORTS.
Gamers grow their prestige by successfully navigating quests, building or enhancing their towns and winning through, by attacking valleys and other opponents resources.
An honor system is used too, but this revolves around attacking players ‘on a similar level’ or ‘above you’. If you target weaker players, you lose Honor.
An active gamer can manage up to 10 cities or towns.
To gain more towns to control, first a player must build up their rank, this is done by earning medals.
How has evony been seen in the gaming industry?
Regardless of good or bad reviews, Evony has carved a new niche in the online browser market. Better gfx, decent gameplay and offline game style goals.
Some are frustrated at the amount of time the game takes up, as achieving any top ranking standing in Evony takes ages and ages. (This may have been the objective of the game designers – to keep players interested)
Some weren’t too happy that the optional pay for play evony coin system allows richer or older gamers to buy their way to success in the game world
Some suggested the interface is similar to Runescape and unhappy corners of the gaming world are still furious about the likeness they say of the game to Microprose’s Civ titles
Surely saying that Evony Free Forever is a Civ clone is off the mark? Similar in original name only (Civony) – one is a single player offline game from decades ago and the latest release is a massively multiplayer gaming release?
Successful Marketing Pushing AdSense?
Did Evony Advertisements breach any rules of online advertising TOS?
The use of the AdSense Content network for low cost, the game reached all corners of the internet.
Their strong and edgy adsense campaign allowed them to reach the Top 500 in terms of Alexa Rankings very quickly (in the space of months, during 2009)
People continue to cry – saying the breasts use to advertise the game are unsavory, the key remains, all ads were ticked off by the google adsense team
Evony went from under 5,000 references in the Google Index in April 2009 to well over a million mentions in the space of 1.5 months.
Website owners have been crowing about the online multiplayer title (good or bad) and the banter continues to keep the game in the eyes of the gaming world.
A british website owner went after Eric Lam and Evony online suggesting collusion between Evony and WoWMine.com, a money spinning group hailing out of China that use Warcraft to make big money. Owners of Evony refuted this.
Regardless the game designers are trying to hold on to their success by carving out sequel titles
New Releases are on their way such as NapWars which have been hatched to butter gamers up, before the eventual Age Age II sequel arrives.
The upcoming addition to Evony, is supposed to be Evony Age II which will add much more depth to the existing gaming world for players to explore and make their own, new developments have been tested in the iEvony beta servers over the past few months
Honestly, the design of evony smashes everything else in terms of free online web games. So love it or hate it, it’s changed the landscape!
But as with any case of tall poppy syndrome, many are trying hard to cut down this runaway success or where they can, try for a handout.
